The Real Meaning Behind Netflix's 'Don't Look Up' Revealed
As we read in part I of this article Peter Isherwell, the third richest man in the world had been the main financial supporter of the president's campaign and that's why he has clearance to be in the situation room during the operation designed to destroy the comet before it becomes a more serious threat to the Earth and its residents.
When Isherwell takes the president out of the situation room to have a word with her, the whole destruction mission gets canceled.
He had figured out that the comet [ the one that will put and end to life in 6 months] contains a very precious metal on its surface that can be used in building new generation electronic devices; specially phones.
he offers to build robots in his company so that they can be sent to the comet when it gets close to the Earth, extract enough chemicals and then destroy the comet before it hits the Earth.

Ishrewell is CEO of BASH; a billion-dollar tech company. He has the power to change the president's mind about an important mission to stop the apocalypse. Well, it is quite obvious that he represents huge corporations and the way they the affect decisions of people in power in today's world.
what does the comet represent in don't lookup?
Well, let's take it back to a century before. In 1918 Spanish flu became the dominant virus in a pandemic that ran its course for 2 years and killed nearly 50 million people in the world. A few years later, the era of the Great Depression started and this was when the world's economy collapsed and the most powerful countries of the world sunk into poverty.
And it was after all these catastrophes that Hitler started World War II.
it is argued that the comet in Don't look up represents climate change, which is a serious threat to the world at our age. But I believe it can represent all that is being repeated now after 100 years. We are in the middle of a pandemic that has killed 5 million people so far. Russia just started a war with the potential of turning into a world war. We are also seriously affected by wildfires, drought and floods all over the world.
It's been 2 years that we are into this pandemic now and we still have no way to end it. I am not an Anti-vaccine and I have received my three shots and always persuaded people to get their Covid vaccine. We are getting a shot [made by billion-dollar corporations] every six months to stay alive! Well let's not go into the conspiracy theories. But the comet can definitely represent Covid and its effects on the world.
